Klawock by Boat & Foot

Pristine Nature and Tlingit Heritage Explore Klawock by land and by sea during a guided nature walk and a cruise through protected coastal waters. Located on Prince of Wales Island, Klawock is known for its rich Tlingit heritage, salmon streams and lush rainforest setting. Depart the pier with your guide and set out on foot along the Klawock River Trail, learning about native plants, local wildlife and the river’s role in the area’s salmon habitat along the way. Call at Klawock Totem Park, where 21 carved cedar poles depict clan crests and stories tied to Tlingit tradition. Next, enjoy lunch at a venue near the port, then board a purpose-built, wildlife-viewing boat for a cruise the through the protected coastal waters around Klawock. Sip on a hot beverage and keep watch for humpback whales, known to feed here in summer, as well as sea otters and local seabirds. After, return to your ship. * Demanding - Physically challenging activities, including extensive walks, hiking, riding, water sports, and high altitude activities.
