Stikine River & Wilderness Glacier
Scenic Beauty of Alaska by Jetboat Journey along one of the last truly wild rivers in North America during a jetboat cruise along the Stikine River. Running through the 500,000-acre Stikine-LeConte Wilderness area, the Stikine River flows through a scenic landscape of temperate rainforest, waterfalls, glacial icefields and rugged mountains. Renowned naturalist John Muir described the Stikine as “a Yosemite 100 miles long.” Meet your captain and guide at the pier, then board your jetboat and set out. Traverse the ever-changing river delta as you meander through side sloughs and keep watch for wildlife on the riverbanks. Your excursion will culminate at Shakes Lake, where you can admire the clear water and blue-tinged icebergs. If accessible, you will venture farther for a view of Shakes Glacier itself. Enjoy a snack while sitting inside your heated cabin, then make the return journey to the pier. Please note: A liability waiver must be signed to participate in this tour.
