Mendenhall Glacier & Whale Watching

Scenic Drive to Glacier Followed by a Catamaran Cruise Experience two of Alaska’s premier attractions—a visit to Mendenhall Glacier and a whale-watching cruise. Embark on a scenic journey by motor coach to the glacier, a landscape of compressed blue ice and snow that stretches more than 13 miles. Stop for photographs, then continue on to the visitor’s center, where you will have an opportunity to talk with Forest Service Rangers and learn about the glacier through interactive exhibits. Afterward, journey through the picturesque Mendenhall Valley to Auke Bay. Board your waterjet-powered catamaran and head out into the bay in search of marine wildlife. Relax in the spacious cabin surrounded by windows that have been specifically designed for wildlife viewing as you cruise against a majestic backdrop of snowcapped peaks and glaciers. Keep watch for humpback whales, orcas, sea lions and more as your onboard naturalist describes the area’s complex ecosystem. At the end of your tour, you will return to your ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 ho
