Ketchikan Fishing Experience
Set Out in Search of a Prized Catch Join an experienced captain and venture onto Alaskan waters to test your deep sea fishing skills. Since the early 20th century, Ketchikan has been a major hub for Alaska’s fishing industry. Known by some as the “Salmon Capital of the World,” its waters are rich in a variety of fish species—in addition to the famous salmon, cod, rockfish and more can be found here. Set out to try your hand at reeling in your own catch of the day, beginning by meeting your captain and listening to a short safety briefing. Then, it’s time to board your vessel, receive your fishing gear and cast your line in search of a prized catch. Your captain will determine the route and choose the best fishing grounds to drop your line. As you wait for a bite, keep watch for other wildlife including whales, porpoises and seals, which can often be spotted in the area. Later, return to your awaiting ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
