Sitka Sound Wildlife Cruise & Tongass National Forest Trek

Immerse Yourself in Nature and Visit the Fortress of the Bears Search for local wildlife during a boat journey along the Sitka Sound and trek through the Tongass National Forest. Meet your guide at the pier and begin your excursion with a cruise through the pristine waters of the Sitka Sound. As you journey toward Silver Bay, watch for sea otters, sea lions and more while your guide shares insights about the region. Stop at Crescent Harbor for lunch, then continue by minivan to the Fortress of the Bears, a sanctuary dedicated to the conservation of brown and black bears. If you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of these creatures from a covered viewing platform. Your drive continues past Silver Bay Overlook, where you can take in the sweeping mountain views, then onward to Tongass National Forest where you will set out on a guided trek along the scenic Thimbleberry Trail. Conclude with a leisurely drive back to Sitka and your awaiting ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
