Sled Dogs on a Glacier Experience by Helicopter

Bird's Eye View of a Glacier and Playtime with Sled Dogs Fly to a glacier, learn about Iditarod sledding from experienced mushers and enjoy play time with their dogs. Take flight from Skagway’s waterfront to the rugged beauty of the Alaskan wilderness. Your pilot will navigate over the valley estuary known as Taiya Inlet, through the mountains and onto the Denver Glacier. Here, you will meet an experienced dog sled driver, or musher, who will teach you about the dedicated training methods used to raise their dogs while showing you how to use sledding equipment and gear. Listen to stories of their experiences at the annual Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race and meet some of the dogs who have made it famous. Then, with the glistening snowy landscape of the glacier around you, learn to prepare a team of dogs for a race. After, spend time playing with the puppies before your return flight to Skagway, and head back to your awaiting ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
