Chichagof Island Jeep Expedition
Off-Road Trek Through Beautiful Alaskan Wilderness Take the road less traveled into the forests of Chichagof Island during an off-road drive in a 4x4 Jeep Wrangler. The remnants of the bustling timber industry from the 1980’s has left more than 150 miles of back roads through the pristine wilderness. After a short safety briefing at the Adventure Center, travel through Hoonah, the largest Tlingit community in Alaska, and learn about the rich culture and vast history of the indigenous people. As you head into the second-growth forests and muskegs that dominate the island, keep watch for wildlife, such as bald eagles, Sitka black-tailed deer and coastal brown bears. Marvel at the panoramic views at the “Vortex” and discover how glacial advances created the valleys and mountains millennia ago. A perfect opportunity to discover the rugged, natural beauty of the largest National Forest in the United States. Please note: a liability waiver must be signed to participate in this tour.
