Chile’s Rural Traditions & Lifestyle
Winery, Horse-Breeding Ranch and Archaeological Museum Explore Chile’s traditions on an excursion to the rural heartland of the Casablanca Valley. Drive toward the heart of this picturesque valley, an established wine region since the 19th century, and visit a local winery. Discover the art of winemaking and how the ocean breezes contribute to the excellent quality of the fruity wines produced here, and witness the wine-making process before sampling the vineyard’s house wines. Next, drive to Puro Caballo for an introduction to the Chilean huaso —the traditional Chilean horseman similar to an American cowboy. Learn about the characteristics of the powerful Chilean horse, and see a horse show while sipping on a glass of wine or a refreshing pisco sour. En route back to Valparaíso, visit the Fonck Museum in neighboring Viña del Mar and see collections of indigenous Easter Island artifacts and Mapuche silver crafts. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines.
