Magdalena Island & Penguin Reserve by Speedboat
Punta Arenas, Chile

Magdalena Island & Penguin Reserve by Speedboat

A Haven of Penguins, Sea Lions and Birdlife Sail one of the world’s most southerly straits to explore the islands of the Los Pingüinos Natural Monument. After crossing the Strait of Magellan, named after the Portuguese explorer and navigator Ferdinand Magellan, you will arrive at the Los Pingüinos Natural Monument. Together, the ecosystems on this collection of islands protect thousands of penguins, as well as a colony of sea lions. On Magdalena Island, step ashore and interact with one of the major colonies of Magellanic penguins. You will spend an hour walking among these magnificent birds. If sea conditions are favorable, you will set sail toward Marta Island, home to more than 1,000 sea lions, along with cormorants, skuas, Austral seagulls, Antarctic pigeons and sea elephants. As you circumnavigate the island, you can admire the diverse wildlife in its natural habitat. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
