Whale Watching Expedition
Venture Out to Sea to View Southern Right Whales Experience the thrill of an encounter with one of nature’s largest mammals during a whale-watching expedition. From June through December, southern right whales arrive in the waters off the coast of Argentina to mate, give birth and raise their calves. These majestic animals can reach lengths of 55 feet and weigh up to 99 tons. Drive across the narrow isthmus to the Valdéz Peninsula, where you will learn about the local flora and fauna at the visitor’s center before meeting your vessel in Puerto Pirámides. Cruise down the coast and out into the Atlantic Ocean to your whale-watching site. Southern right whales are active at the surface of the water and their natural curiosity brings them close to boats. Marvel at the grace and size of these creatures as they frolic—you may even have the pleasure of seeing one breach or slap its tail during your unforgettable experience. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
