Nature Walk & Black Beaches

Panoramic Views of Striking Icelandic Landscape and Coastline Admire East Iceland’s stark natural beauty while strolling through the countryside and along black-sand beaches. Follow your knowledgeable guide out of Djúpivogur along a gravel road to the Bóndavarða Cache, an age-old farmers cairn overlooking the entrance to the Berufjörður, which offers sweeping views of the village and its surroundings. Gaze up at the towering Búlandstindur, a pyramid-shaped mountain of basaltic rock that is considered one of Iceland’s mystical power centers. After passing by the small lakes of Fýluvogur and Breiðivogur, you will head toward the striking black beaches; a result of the area’s intense volcanic activity, these beaches form a land bridge to several coastal islands. Explore the shorelines and appreciate the rugged, wind-swept vistas—on a clear day you can see the distant uninhabited island of Papey—before journeying back to your awaiting ship. * Demanding - Physically challenging activities, including extensive walks, hiking, riding, water sports, and high altitude activities. Activities by foot may contain difficult, unpaved surfaces and/or multiple stairs and steep inclines. Total time
