Board your classic de Havilland Otter seaplane and settle in to your window seat. Take to the air for panoramic views of the Juneau Icefield—1,500 square miles of jagged peaks and seemingly endless ice sheets, deep crevasses and crystal blue meltwater pools. You will land on the Taku River in front of the charming Taku Glacier Lodge. Here, enjoy a delicious meal of wild Alaskan salmon accompanied by homemade side dishes and refreshing beverages while your hosts regale you with tales of the lodge’s colorful past. Keep watch for black bears—the aroma of grilled salmon is known to attract them.
