An Intimate Glimpse of Life in Greenland

Enjoy Local Hospitality in an Welcoming Setting Get to know some local Greenlanders as you are invited into their home. You will meet your guide at our pier and take a short guided walk through Qaqortoq. Upon arrival at your host’s home, enjoy a warm greeting and a brief tour of the house, after which you will enjoy coffee or tea and home-prepared cakes. Your guide will serve as your interpreter throughout your visit as you exchange stories with your new friends who long ago adapted to calling Greenland home. Admire the national costume made by the women of the household, on display for your visit. Throughout your stay, you can inquire about the home, your hosts’ lifestyle and local landmarks. You just might find that you have quite a bit in common. Note that you will need to walk about ¾-mile over uneven terrain; also, it is customary to remove your shoes before entering a private home. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
