Wintery Trek on the Hunt for Aurora Borealis Scan the night sky during a snowshoe trek in search of the ethereal aurora borealis. Meet your guide and head to the cable car station, then ascend to the Narvikfjellet ski resort located 1,800 feet above sea level. Strap on your snowshoes and begin your hike as you cast your gaze to the twilight sky in search of the dancing northern lights. Ideal conditions include clear nighttime skies and sufficient solar activity, as the phenomenon occurs when electrically charged solar particles in the atmosphere interact with Earth’s magnetic field. You will be accompanied by local experts with knowledge of how to look for this magnificent natural display. After your hike, relax at a mountain lodge with a warm beverage. Then, walk back down to the pick-up point, where your coach will be waiting to return you to your ship. * Demanding - Physically challenging activities, including extensive walks, hiking, riding, water sports, and high altitude activities.
