Greenwood Great House
Visit a Jamaican National Monument Step into the past at Greenwood Great House, where you will view authentic heirlooms from plantation-era Jamaica. Board your motor coach and set out for this historic home, built during the late 18th-century by Richard Barrett, cousin of the famed poet, Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Set atop a hillside overlooking the Caribbean Sea, it is one of the best-preserved examples of plantation-era great houses in Jamaica and has been lovingly restored to its original splendor by its current owners. Today, it is considered a national monument. Upon arrival, explore the house, viewing authentic furniture and heirlooms that belonged to the Barrett family; among these are a 19th-century harp and a piano that once belonged to King Edward VII. See the library, the oldest and largest intact plantation library on the island, containing more than 300 books. After your visit, return to your ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines.
