Dunn’s River Falls
A Breathtaking Natural Treasure Witness one of the world’s only seaside travertine waterfalls, Dunn’s River Falls, cascading into the Caribbean. One of Jamaica’s most beloved landmarks, the falls spill 180 vertical feet over a long series of stepped limestone before meeting the picturesque white sand beach. The Arawak name for Jamaica, “Xaymaca,” meaning “land of rivers and springs,” will seem quite apt as you lay your eyes on these magnificent falls. But they also have historic significance, for it was here that the occupying British defeated a Spanish force arriving from Cuba in 1657. During your visit, you may follow a guide up the rocks from the sea, ascending them like a giant stairway. If you prefer, you can stay dry by climbing the adjacent wooden stairway. Either way, we recommend wearing shoes and clothes that you do not mind getting wet. * Demanding - Physically challenging activities, including extensive walks, hiking, riding, water sports, and high altitude activities. Activities by foot may contain difficult, unpaved surfaces and/or multiple stairs and steep inclines. Total time walking or standing may exceed 3 hours.
