Island Traditions, Herbs & Rum

Insight into Dominica’s Food Culture Visit an herb garden, learn about the plants’ medicinal properties and taste some of Dominica’s flavorful cuisine. Embark on a scenic drive by motor coach and journey through magnificent mountain vistas. Your first stop is an herb garden, where you will meet its charismatic owner and learn about the age-old remedies that are still in use today. Continue to a stunningly restored estate property, built during the early 20th century and named after Queen Charlotte, the wife of England’s King George III. Here, your host will welcome you with a local drink and then lead you on a guided tour, followed by a rum punch-making and tasting session. Partake in a selection of tasty Dominican bites, including sampling freshly harvested fruit, while relishing the tranquil surroundings and absorbing its serene ambiance. Afterward, bid farewell to your host and return to your ship. * Easy - Walking portions are generally over easy surfaces with few steps or inclines. Total time walking or standing is normally not longer than 1.5 hours.
