Traditional Caribbean Breakfast
Antigua (St. John’s), Antigua and Barbuda

Traditional Caribbean Breakfast

Start Your Day With Delicious Local Staples Receive a hands-on lesson on creating a traditional homemade Caribbean breakfast, then enjoy the delicious results. Embark on a scenic drive by taxi to a beachside venue, set on the shores of the Caribbean Sea. Upon arrival, you will be escorted inside, where you will meet your host, roll up your sleeves and prepare for your cooking class. In the kitchen, your hosts will share cooking tips that you can use at home and instruct you in preparing Caribbean breakfast staples, such as fried bake, stewed saltfish, rich cocoa tea, ackee, eggs, mashed okra, spinach, eggplant, “chop up” and fungee—a cornmeal dish flaked with okra and laced with butter. The dishes you prepare will vary according to seasonal availability. After your lesson, gather around the dining table and savor your creations while listening to tales of Caribbean life and its traditions. Appetite sated, return to your ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
