Alaskan Bear Encounter by Land & Sea

View Black Bears at the Neets Bay Observatory Observe Ursus americanus in their natural habitat at one of the finest bear-viewing sites in southeastern Alaska. This region is home to thousands of black bears, who prowl the salmon-spawning streams that feed into the Pacific Ocean. A guided panoramic drive and small passenger boat cruise will take you to the Neets Bay Observatory, an area of pristine wilderness in the Tongass National Forest that is open to only a limited number of visitors annually. Upon arrival, soak up the tranquil atmosphere of the forest as you walk along a well-maintained trail to the viewing platform, where you will want your camera at the ready. You may see the bears teaching their young to catch salmon or relaxing after a big meal. Your guide will be on hand to answer any of your questions about these captivating animals. After your memorable experience, you will return to your ship. Please note: a liability waiver must be signed to participate in this tour. Guests with mobility issues should not participate. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normal
