Sitka Sound Wildlife Cruise
Sitka, Alaska, United States

Sitka Sound Wildlife Cruise

Dynamic Marine Environments and Alaskan Traditions Venture onto the waters of Sitka Sound to spot wildlife and visit a homestead in Silver Bay Fjord. Located off the coast of Baranof Island, Sitka Sound is a natural haven for an array of species, particularly marine animals and seabirds. Climb aboard your enclosed vessel and set sail along the Sound, keeping watch for sightings of local fauna as you traverse the waters, including bald eagles, seals and more. Humpback whales are commonly seen feeding in the sound, while sea otters drift among the kelp beds of nearby islands. Your journey takes you into the Silver Bay Fjord, where you will visit a modern homestead. Sip on a hot beverage and sample a range of treats, including locally caught and smoked salmon on crackers, while listening to stories around the campfire. After, return to your vessel and sail back to your ship, taking in the mountain views along the way. Please note: wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
