Tokyo Highlights
Shrine, Temple and Modern Japan Discover the tranquil past and the bustling present on a tour of Tokyo’s highlights. Take a scenic drive to the Meiji Jingu (Meiji Shrine), dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken—the great-grandparents of the current emperor. Spread over 170 acres, the forest contains more than 100,000 trees that have been donated by people from all over Japan. Continue to the Tokyo Tower, whose design was inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris, to enjoy the panoramic views over the city. After lunch, pass Tokyo Skytree—the tallest building in Japan. In contrast to its gleaming modernity, visit Sensō-ji temple. Its main house was built in 645 AD and is said to hold a gold statue of Kannon, the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy. Stroll through the bustling temple precinct before returning to your ship. * Demanding - Physically challenging activities, including extensive walks, hiking, riding, water sports, and high altitude activities.
