The Great Barrier Reef

A Magnificent Undersea World Explore the largest marine reserve in the world during a Viking-chartered day excursion to the Great Barrier Reef. One of the world’s seven natural wonders, the reef stretches 1,400 miles and is home to a vast array of sea life, including some 1,500 varieties of fish, 360 species of colorful hard corals and one-third of the Earth’s soft corals. To get there, embark on a journey on your privately chartered catamaran to a moored pontoon station. You will have ample opportunity to snorkel in turquoise waters, marveling at a rainbow of color and white coral sand below. If you wish, you may join a tour in a glass-bottom boat tour with a marine naturalist. Afterward, enjoy a delicious buffet-style lunch of tropical fare at the pontoon station before returning to Cairns and your ship. * Easy - Walking portions are generally over easy surfaces with few steps or inclines. Total time walking or standing is normally not longer than 1.5 hours.
