Cape Kamui Hike
Sapporo (Otaru), Japan

Cape Kamui Hike

Panoramic Views From Along the Shakotan Peninsula Immerse yourself in the stunning landscapes and natural beauty of Hokkaidō during a hike to Cape Kamui. Kamui—“God” in the local Ainu language—overlooks the famous blue waters of the Sea of Japan from its location at the northwestern tip of the rugged Shakotan Peninsula. From the entrance gate, set out with your knowledgeable guide along the well-maintained path for your approximately 1½-hour, roundtrip trek to the cliffs and back. Along the way, marvel at the spectacular and unspoiled surroundings, including its solitary lighthouse, and gain insight into the history of the cape. Upon reaching the imposing cliff edge, stop to admire sweeping views of the sea from 240 feet above the waves—weather permitting. Later, you will finish your hike at your starting point, then head to a nearby local restaurant for a delicious lunch of fresh seafood. Afterward, return to your ship. * Demanding - Physically challenging activities, including extensive walks, hiking, riding, water sports, and high altitude activities. Activities by foot may contain difficult, unpaved surfaces and/or multiple stairs and steep inclines. Total time walking or stand
