Nikka Whisky Distillery, Tanaka Sake Brewery and Sushi Taste Japanese liquors at an award-winning distillery and a renowned sake brewery before enjoying a sushi lunch. Visit the Nikka Whisky distillery in Yoichi. Masataka Taketsuru, the father of Japanese whisky, founded the distillery in 1934. The local climate provides perfect conditions for creating a whisky for which Japan is now famed the world over. Enjoy a tasting of a selection of Nikka products—including apple juices—before continuing on to the Tanaka Sake Brewery. Housed in a series of historic century-old stone buildings, Tanaka uses local ingredients to brew its sake. Tour the facilities and learn how best to enjoy Japan’s signature drink. Later, you will head to a local restaurant for a delicious sushi lunch. Sit at the counter and watch as the chef prepares the ingredients and creates your fresh dishes right in front of you.
