Wilds of Alaska by Hovercraft

Secluded Landscapes of Tongass National Forest Set out on an exhilarating ride in an environmentally friendly hovercraft and explore a remote Alaskan beach. Meet your captain and board your Blackbird hovercraft, then settle in to its fully-enclosed and climate-controlled cabin before setting off along the jagged coastline toward the Tongass National Forest. Learn about Alaska’s “off-the-grid” lifestyle as you cruise 20-inches above the water. Your guide will explain how the air cushion that the hovercraft rides on reduces friction, allowing it to transition smoothly over different surfaces; its lack of a propeller contributes to its minimal impact on marine life. After your pilot maneuvers the hovercraft directly onto the beach, you will have time to explore the shoreline of this secluded habitat in “The Last Frontier.” After, reboard your hovercraft and embark on a search for local wildlife before returning to your ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
