Highlights of Taipei

Modern and Traditional City on Display Discover the major sights of Taipei, the vibrant capital city of Taiwan, Province of China. A fusion of Chinese and Japanese cultures infiltrated with Western influences, the city is modern and yet traditional. Begin at the iconic Taipei 101 tower, one of the world’s tallest buildings at more than 1,600 feet. Its distinctive, bamboo-inspired design and blue-green glass facade were constructed to withstand the earthquakes and typhoons common to the region. Take its high-speed elevator up to the 89th-floor observation deck for spectacular views of the surrounding metropolis. Then, learn more about Taiwan’s political history with a photo stop at the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. Built in 1980, it honors the republic’s former president. Afterward, stop to explore the Taiwan Handicraft Center, where you will have free time to browse traditional crafts before traveling to the colorful Bao-An Temple. Admire the intimidating dragons entwining the pillars and the many-hued roof tiles before returning to your ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines.
