Set out on foot for Mauao, also known as Mount Maunganui, where you will embark on a guided walk around its slopes. Local Māori consider the mountain to be sacred and it plays in important role in their mythology. As you walk along the trails, your guide will share stories and insights about these Māori legends. See the sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean below and feel the refreshing coastal breeze, and stay alert for sightings of local birdlife, including black-billed gulls and Eurasian coots. Then, roll up your sleeves for a hands-on workshop, where you will discover traditional Māori crafts and connect with the region’s cultural heritage.
