Explore the Ancient Kingdom of Kandy Explore Kandy, the last capital city of Sri Lanka’s ancient kingdom and a major center of Theravada Buddhism. Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, participate in a discussion with a chief priest and stroll the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya. Day 1 - Kandy, Sri Lanka After lunch, disembark your ship in Colombo and embark on a scenic drive from the coastal plains of Sri Lanka to its hilly interior. Journey through tropical forests and bucolic tea plantations on your way to Kandy. Upon arrival, head to your hotel where you will spend a relaxing evening and enjoy dinner at the on-site restaurant. Retire early this evening in preparation for the early start tomorrow. (D) Day 2 - Colombo, Sri Lanka Rise early this morning and head to the Temple of the Tooth—said to hold the sacred relic of Buddha—to observe the morning ceremony of the monks.
