Thai Life in Bang Rong
Rural Community and its Rubber, Pineapple and Coconut Plantations Experience Thai life during a wide-ranging tour that includes visits to rubber, pineapple and coconut plantations. Transfer from your ship to Bang Rong, a small village surrounded by mangrove forests and home to a community of fishermen and farmers that still maintain their traditional ways. After a warm welcome and introduction to the village, participate in a do-it-yourself lesson painting a traditional needlework bag. Then, board a wooden bus that will take you through the rural countryside to visit the plantations, where you will gain insight into local life. Learn how to pick, peel and grate coconuts, then sample a glass of coconut juice; savor a taste of fresh pineapple; and watch a rubber-tapping demonstration. Afterward, enjoy a light lunch of pad thai, before departing Bang Rong, stopping a local T-shirt factory en route to your ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
