Jakarta & Its Chinatown

Icons of a Capital City Enjoy a guided visit to the Indonesian capital and its bustling Chinatown district. Disembark your ship and drive to Glodok Chinatown, home to Indonesia’s largest Chinese community, where you will be greeted by the colorful Chinese Lion Dance and a bustling market. Visit the 16th-century Vihara Dharma Bhakti temple, the oldest Chinese temple in Jakarta, and sample tasty snacks at a local restaurant. Continue to Fatahillah Square, the center of the 18th-century Dutch colonial administration in Jakarta. Located in the heart of Jakarta’s old town, today the square is home to cultural gems such as the Jakarta History Museum and the Wayang Museum. See the well-preserved colonial architecture and visit the Wayang Museum to learn about Indonesia’s beloved tradition of shadow puppetry, before returning to your awaiting ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
