Balinese Cooking Class
Exotic Ingredients and Culinary Heritage of an Indonesian Island Learn the basics of Balinese cuisine during an informative hands-on introductory course. Spread out across 1,000 individual islands, Indonesia is a country of many different cultures. This is readily apparent in Balinese cuisine, an eclectic mix of indigenous, regional, Chinese and Indian influences. A variety of spices, fresh vegetables, meat and fish are used to create exotic dishes such as lawar (minced meat salad), sate lilit (Balinese satay) and babi guling (a whole spit-roasted pig). Your class will provide insight into these exotic dishes and Bali’s culinary heritage. Your expert chefs will demonstrate food preparation techniques and different cooking styles. You will follow detailed recipes that contain clear, step-by-step instructions for easy reference. At the end of your lesson, take a seat at the table and sample the mouthwatering meal you have prepared. Your appetite sated, make the return journey to your ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines.
