From the Atlas Mountains to the Shore
A Kaleidoscopic View of Morocco’s Desert, Sea and Mountains Take in the spectacular views and the colorful culture of the Atlas Mountains where they meet the sea. Board your sturdy 4x4 vehicle and head up the coast to the colorful village of Aghroud, where individual owners paint the walls of their homes in warm, vibrant colors, each different from their neighbor. Farther north around Tamri, you will learn about the production of argan oil by the Berbers in the region, a labor-intensive procedure that has been designated as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. After sampling some flavorful Berber treats, such as amlou, a bread dip made of almonds, honey and argan oil, you will enjoy the sweeping views over the nearby sand dunes before visiting the Bab Taghzout souk in Aourir, where you will have time to browse local handicrafts and artwork. From here, return to your ship in Agadir. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
