Lemuria Land & Marodoka Village
Wildlife, Ylang-Ylang Trees and Local Culture Discover wildlife and a plantation for fragrant flora, then visit cultural landmarks in an ancient village. Travel to Lemuria Land, a private wildlife reserve and ylang-ylang tree plantation where essential oils for perfume are distilled. Visit its population of free-roaming lemurs and other endemic Madagascan wildlife, such as color-changing chameleons, some of which you can feed, if you choose to. Then drive to Nosy Be’s first village, the vibrant and multicultural Marodoka, which still retains remnants of colonial architecture and an ancient mosque among its inhabitants’ traditional, thatch-roofed wooden houses. Immerse yourself in their daily lives as you travel to the city center for lunch before visiting a museum dedicated to one of the country’s smallest ethnic groups, the Sakalava people. After, you will have free time for shopping nearby before returning to your ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
