North Stradbroke Island Discovery

History and Culture of Quandamooka People Explore the natural beauty and cultural heritage of North Stradbroke Island, home of the Quandamooka people. Known locally as “Straddie,” the island is a natural treasure and the world’s second-largest sand island. Take a scenic drive and ferry ride to reach the island. Upon arrival, meet your guide, who will describe the history and culture of the Quandamooka as you tour. Head to Point Lookout, where you will have free time to stroll the captivating North Gorge Walk—keep watch for dolphins, turtles and manta rays—or browse the boutique shops and cafés. After a transfer to the Stradbroke Island Beach Hotel, savor a delicious lunch while enjoying spectacular sea views. Cap your tour with a visit to the North Stradbroke Island Historical Museum featuring a range of permanent displays, including ones focused on the Quandamooka people and the island’s colonial and maritime history. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
