Island Discovery

Rich South Pacific Heritage and Beauty Discover Rarotonga’s rich cultural heritage as you trace its coastal road past stunning beaches and historic sites. Embark on a scenic drive by motor coach along the area’s main coastal road, Ara Tapu, passing historic landmarks such as the Empire Theater and the wreck of the SS Matai en route to the National Museum. After viewing the museum’s collection of artifacts, follow the ancient backroad of Ara Metua toward Ngatangiia Harbor, the departure point of the Polynesian migration to New Zealand in 1350. Enjoy light refreshments at the Seven Stones Monument before continuing your journey to Black Rock, a volcanic boulder located in a lagoon believed to hold spiritual significance. Along the way, your guide will offer insight into the island’s culture while you enjoy views of the legendary Raemaru Mountain, historic churches and plantations, and more. Your tour will conclude at your ship. * Easy - Walking portions are generally over easy surfaces with few steps or inclines. Total time walking or standing is normally not longer than 1.5 hours.
