Eltham Palace House & Gardens

Architectural Contrasts at a Former Royal Residence See a fascinating blend of medieval architecture and Art Deco interiors during a guided visit to Eltham Palace. Drive by motor coach to this historic home, once the favored spot for the Christmas celebrations of the Tudor courts. The original palace dates to the 14th century; today, the only remnant of this former royal residence is the Great Hall. In 1933, the wealthy Courtauld family leased the site and began restoration work, as well as the construction of an attached home featuring Art Deco interiors and modern innovations. You will have the opportunity to experience this fusion of architectural styles up-close as you explore the home, including the basement area, where you will find a billiards room, a map room and a bomb shelter. After, take a stroll through the landscaped gardens, where medieval features coexist alongside 20th-century designs, before returning to your ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
