Mozambique Cuisine & Culture

Landmarks and Local Flavors Explore Mozambique’s cuisine during visits to notable landmarks where you will sample regional delights. Drive to the downtown district, where you will begin your culinary experience with refreshments at the CFM Train Station, dubbed one of the world’s most beautiful by Travel + Leisure . Then, head to Maputo Central Market to sample a variety of items as you walk among vendors selling produce and more. Continue to a nearby neighborhood for one of Maputo’s most famous savoury snacks, the badjia , a pastry made from beans, often eaten at breakfast. After, visit Mozambique’s largest craft market, Feima, where you will have time to browse handmade items made by local artisans. On your way back to the pier, stop at a beachfront food stall for Mozambican chicken, and a roadside stand for refreshing drinks of coconut water or sugar cane, before returning to your ship. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
