Rarotonga (Avatiu), Cook Islands

Rarotonga by 4x4

A Thrilling Landscape Safari Venture off the beaten track, from the depths of the rain forest to the heights of Rarotonga, on this 4x4 adventure. With coastal flatlands, lush fields and a mountainous, thickly forested interior, this island—known locally as simply “Raro”—is the most populous of the Cook Islands and offers stunning landscapes to explore. Travel the island by 4x4, accompanied by an experienced guide who will share their knowledge of traditional uses of the local flora and fauna found along the way. Drive along the ancient road, the Are Metua, built and paved with volcanic slabs by the island’s Toi and Atonga ancestors. Along the way, take in the dazzling views of the lagoon, valleys and inland villages from higher ground, and plunge into the depths of the rain forest below—a truly special way to access and appreciate Raro’s stunning terrain. * Demanding - Physically challenging activities, including extensive walks, hiking, riding, water sports, and high altitude activities. Activities by foot may contain difficult, unpaved surfaces and/or multiple stairs and steep inclines. Total time walking or standing may exceed 3 hours.
