Vienne Evening Walk

Explore a Rich Roman Past On Foot Get to know Vienne and its ties to Roman times long past during a leisurely evening walk. Meet your guide at the pier and set off down the Cours Marc-Antoine Brillier to begin exploring the city’s historic attractions. View the Temple of Augustus and Livia, an incredibly well-preserved 1st-century structure that has only been out of use since the late 19th century. Then, see the enormous Gothic Cathedral of St. Maurice, built over almost 500 years, starting during the 11th century. You will also pass through St. Paul’s Square, Charles de Gaulle Square and François Mitterrand Square. Cap your stroll with time to explore an old Roman neighborhood, today’s Archeological Garden of Cybele, whose grounds are dotted with fascinating Roman remains dating back to the 1st century BC. Afterward, you will return by foot to your awaiting ship. * Easy - Walking portions are generally over easy surfaces with few steps or inclines. Total time walking or standing is normally not longer than 1.5 hours.
