Dresden & the Elbe Valley

Baroque and Saxon Wonders Enjoy a wide-ranging view of Dresden and its scenic surroundings. You will meet your guide for a panoramic tour of the city. Then visit an elegant Saxon baroque castle in a splendid waterside setting, once home to royalty and lavish banquets. Later, enjoy a scenic transfer to Radebeul. Here, take in splendid views from the Observatory before walking down through vineyards to Wackerbarth Castle, an elegant wine-growing estate. After lunch and free time to explore, return to Dresden, where you will stop at the famed Zwinger Palace, a rococo-style complex of remarkable museums. You will visit the Green Vault museum that houses what many claim is the largest collection of treasures in the world, including priceless jewels and emeralds. On Tuesdays, the Green Vault is closed; you will instead visit the Old Masters Picture Gallery to view magnificent masterpieces of Raphael, Vermeer, Rubens, Rembrandt and others. * Moderate - Walking portions may be long and somewhat challenging with occasional step-ups, stairs and inclines. Total time walking or standing normally ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
